Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC)

The Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) is a special sub-group of Bootheel Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) comprised of county commissioners and appointed individuals whose primary responsibilities are to advocate for the region on transportation issues and to prioritize regional priorities from concerns identified by the general public. These priorities are then used by BRPC staff to assist the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) in developing the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) each year. In addition to establishing local priorities, the TAC also discusses issues such as roadway safety and available grant opportunities. The TAC meets on a quarterly basis and are open to the general public.

Multi-Modal Transportation Advisory Committee (MMTAC)

MMTAC is an advisory body that provides recommendations and guidance on transportation policies and projects to a city, county, or regional planning agency. The committee focuses on integrating various modes of transportation—such as driving, public transit, walking, and bicycling—into a cohesive transportation system. The goal is to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and sustainability across all transportation options.

Members of an MMTAC often include representatives from different sectors, including government agencies, transportation providers, advocacy groups, and community members. The committee examines issues and opportunities in transportation planning and development, ensuring that multiple transportation modes are considered in decision-making processes. This includes reviewing plans, policies, and projects that affect the transportation infrastructure and its users, promoting safety, connectivity, and inclusivity.

It is important to note that BRPC staff and TAC members rely heavily on the general public to inform us of concerns that you feel need to be addressed. We are always willing to listen and present identified concerns to the TAC and MoDOT. You can contact our Transportation Planner, Jared Brown at calling (573) 614-5178 ext. 110.
