  • Purpose

    The purpose of the Community Development Specialist is to effectively communicate with the subgrantee their responsibilities and contractual obligations set forth by the Bootheel Regional Planning Commission and the Missouri Department of Economic Development. This person will also be responsible for any compliance needs within Bootheel Regional Planning Commission and to connect with our communities to write grants they plan to apply for.

    Job Description

    The Bootheel Regional Planning Commission is seeking a full-time Community Development Specialist. Duties will include providing technical expertise to cities, counties, and non-profit agencies regarding community planning, project development, the compilation of state and federal funding proposals, and grant writing. The proposed salary is negotiable and will be based upon qualifications and experience. Full benefits will be provided.

    Candidates should have the ability to travel regularly within a six-county service area, including some evenings, and occasional overnight travel to statewide meetings and conferences. Graduation from an accredited college or university in the fields of public administration, business administration, planning, economics, or other closely related fields of study is preferred. An ideal candidate would possess experience in the preparation of written reports and professional communication with public officials.
